Ride behind ‘Fenchurch’ at Half Term!

And so begins Year 2 of the Terrier 150 celebrations, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the LB&SCR A class right through until those engines out-shopped in 1880 celebrate their 150th birthday in 2030.

2022 didn’t turn out exactly as had been imagined but there were opportunities for enthusiasts to see ‘Knowle’, ‘Poplar’, ‘Newport’ and ‘Martello’ in steam over the course of the year, with ‘Fenchurch’ emerging for test runs as the year drew to a close.

This year kicks off with an opportunity to ride behind the newly overhauled ‘Fenchurch’ at the Bluebell Railway, who write:

‘Come and join us as No. 72 ‘Fenchurch’ will be working its first public trains back in service between Sheffield Park & Horsted Keynes during the February Half Term from the 11th to 19th!

With our Kids For A Quid Travel Offer during this time throughout as well as Ice Skating at Sheffield Park, be sure to come along to The Bluebell Railway this half term!’

Tickets can be obtained here.

Please note that no trains will be travelling between Horsted Keynes and East Grinstead Station during this period.

The Bluebell Railway have also announced that ‘Fenchurch’ will run as part of their Branch Line gala weekend from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 April 2023. We will continue to list Terrier related happenings on our Calendar of Events page as the year unfolds.

Please keep sending us your photographs of the Terriers – in steam or on static display – as we continue to build our gallery recording this special milestone of the class. We didn’t receive many shots of ‘Martello’ last year, so it would be great to add more of those from its home in Bressingham.

Here’s to another year celebrating these wonderful little engines!
